Sustainable Manufacturing With Woodform

FSC Certification

Woodform has been approved by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)[1] to be certified and internationally recognized as an FSC Chain of Custody (FSC COC) qualified manufacturer and supplier of timber products.

In order to legitimately supply FSC products a manufacturer must not only source materials from FSC certified forests and sawmills/processors, but the manufacturer must themselves be FSC COC certified. This is important where a customer requires a guarantee that the products they are buying originate from sustainably managed forest resources and not, for example, from clearfelled rainforests.

This is particularly important where buildings are being built to the Greenstar[2] environmental standards and where FSC timber materials will be specified. For materials to be recognised as genuine FSC materials and count towards Green Star accreditation, the manufacture/supplier must be FSC COC certified.

[1] The Forest Stewardship Council is an international non-profit, multi-stakeholder organization established in 1993 to promote responsible management of the world’s forests. The FSC does this by setting standards on forest products, along with certifying and labeling them as eco-friendly. [2] Green Star is an internationally recognised environmental rating system for the design, construction and operation of buildings, promoting greater environmental sustainability and healthier building environments. Green Star provides an environmental assurance to building owners and occupants.
